East Alabama Medical Center in Opelika, Ala. is adding a new freestanding mental health facility with inpatient and outpatient services, according to the website wtvm.com.

The project will house 40 beds, with 20 designated for adult patients and 20 for children and adolescents.

The facility will serve as a teaching hospital for psychiatric residency students at Auburn University (Auburn, Ala.).

Completion is expected in fall 2025.
