At the beginning of this year, I created a different resolution list. This year I decided to focus on my emotional wellness more and let my emotions take center stage. While typically, most resolutions focus on physical health, career, and even learning new skills, we often overlook the importance of emotional goals. So, let’s shake things up and set some emotional goals for a change!

Emotions are as important as any other aspect of your wellness, if not more. Setting emotional goals can help you work on your self-awareness, and emotional growth, and even aid stress reduction. I know, surprising, right? So, shall we see what are emotional goals and how you can set them to work on your emotional wellness?

You can measure emotional goals by writing in a journal to log your emotional state, identify areas of improvement, and track how well you’ve been addressing your emotional goals. Emotional goals, just like other types such as spiritual goals, can be long-term and short-term.

1.Daily Mindfulness

Dedicate a few minutes each day to practicing mindfulness. This practice can help you stay present in the moment, reduce stress levels, and boost your emotional resilience.

2.Express Gratitude

Make it a daily habit to write down things you’re grateful for each day. This grateful journal practice will help you focus more on the positive aspects of life rather than sticking to the negative ones that hold you back.

Another long-term emotional goal you can set is saying “NO”. Setting boundaries can be good for your emotional well-being. So, don’t be afraid to say “NO” when you feel the need to.

Treat yourself with the same kindness and understanding you offer to others. Whether you’re going through a hard time or good days, don’t forget to be kind and compassionate to yourself. The idea is to embrace your feelings and this includes all feelings.

7.Journal Your Thoughts

Keep and maintain a steady emotional journal where you can write and track your emotional progress and thought processes. Having a journal can help you process your emotions better and even gain clarity.

8.Take Care of Yourself

Make time for self-care. It’s non-negotiable! You need to maintain a healthy self-care routine if you want to work on your emotional health, in the long term. Self-care activities can include something as simple as taking a bath or engaging in your favorite hobby for your sake.

9.Learn to Face Fear

Fear can often hold you back from achieving your success. Know that feeling fear is normal but don’t let your fear overwhelm you. Face them head-on and let them go.

10.Act, But Don’t React

One of the things emotions lead us to do is react instantly. Reacting can cause regret, so this is another emotional goal you need to set. Act but not react. When you act, you make a conscious decision with more control. Reacting comes from not being able to control emotions. So, learn to act, not react.
