Massachusetts General Hospital Breaks Ground On Clinical Care Building In Boston

Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH), a founding member of Mass General Brigham (Boston), has started construction on a new clinical care facility on its campus in Boston.

The project will house the Mass General Cancer Center and the Corrigan Minehan Heart Center, which are currently housed at Mass General Brigham.

Additionally, the 1.5-million-square-foot project will add two inpatient towers with 482 private patient rooms; operating, interventional and procedural rooms; imaging facilities; infusion and exam rooms; and support space for pharmacy and dietary services. Six levels of underground parking for 864 vehicles, bicycle parking, and green roof terraces are also planned.

The project will use renewable electricity and will be built to withstand major flooding and high winds.

Construction is expected to last approximately seven years, with the facility scheduled to open in phases starting in 2027.
