Novant Health (Winston-Salem, N.C.) is planning to add a $169 million bed tower at Novant Health Matthews Medical Center in Matthews, N.C., according to an article in Winston-Salem Journal.
The project will add 150,000 square feet to the medical center and renovate 50,000 square feet of existing space.
The project will expand the hospital’s bed count by 20 beds to 174 and add a new surgical services area with seven operating rooms (ORs), three endoscopy rooms, a post-anesthesia care unit, ambulatory care unit, and three cardiac procedure rooms, including cardiac catheterization and vascular interventions are also planned. Shell space to support future campus expansions up to 272 beds will also be included. An expanded kitchen, pharmacy, patient access area, and respiratory care area are also planned.
Groundbreaking is schedule for the first quarter 2022 with project completion slated for summer 2025.
