UPMC Presbyterian (Pittsburgh) is planning a new bed tower on its campus in Oakland, Pa., according to an article in University Times.
The 900,000-square-foot project will be constructed on the former site of Children’s Hospital in front of UPMC Presbyterian and will include 636 patient beds. A roof terrace, which will serve as a public amenity space, and a 450-car parking garage are also planned.
The project team includes HGA (San Jose, Calif.), IKM Inc. (architect; Pittsburgh), and Trans Associates (engineering consultant; Pittsburgh).
Construction is scheduled to begin in summer 2022 and the project is expected to open in summer 2026.
