Tampa General Erects Aqua Fence Amid Hurricane Ian

As Hurricane Ian makes landfall in Florida yesterday, Tampa General Hospital in Tampa, Fla., barricaded its campus with an aqua fence to prevent flooding and storm surge damage from the Category 4 storm, according to the website tampabay.com. The water-impermeable barrier is designed to handle a 15-foot surge above sea level. Additionally, the hospital features 6-inch-thick metal barrier doors with inflatable bladders that create watertight seals below. Electrical, air conditioning, and other critical systems are located 25 feet above ground.
